Basic Trick, known as Trip, is a 13-year old with a sweet personality but is quite green from her years off the track. At first, it took time for Trip to adjust to her new environment and being handled daily. Now, her ground manners have tremendously improved to where she can stand still patiently and walk alongside her rider without her usual racehorse walk. She is a very nice mover and has improved greatly on the lunge line while learning voice commands. At the beginning of the class, they have not been in the saddle much only because although she is 13, she acts more like an unbroken two-year-old. So, Cricket and her rider we're treating her as such! Trip has been doing a lot of lunging and when under saddle, Cricket would keep a lead line to her bit while walking around with her rider on her back for about 10-15 minutes. VERY baby steps with this one but she has already improved tremendously and her rider is so excited to be working with her! Although green, Trip is coming along each week with huge strides towards being a well rounded pleasure horse.
